Scots Stay Perfect in NCAC with Wins over Oberlin and Wittenberg

OBERLIN, Ohio – The College of Wooster swimming and diving teams swept their competition Saturday against North Coast Athletic Conference teams Oberlin College and Wittenberg University.

The women defeated Wittenberg 203-76 and Oberlin 216-58. The men beat Wittenberg 208-70 and Oberlin 197-77.

The 400-yard medley relay teams started off with wins thanks to the women's team of Mia Chen, Madison Whitman, Heidi Likins and Emma Bossaert. The men's team of Josh Gluck, Burke Poeting, Trey Schopen and Cameron Gelwicks finished in 3:39.19.

For the women, Emma Fikse won the 1000 free in 11:03.57 and the 500 free in 5:26.07. Kera Sells won the 200 free in 2:05.12.

Whitman came through and won the 100 breast in 1:10.17 and the 200 breast in 2:30.75. She also took home top honors in the 200 IM in 2:18.27.

In the 50 free, Wooster took the top four spots with Likins edging out Fikse by .05 with a winning time of 26.02.

Brooke Brown swam a 57.28 to take first in the 100 free. Hannah Langer won the 200 back in 2:12.34.

Anne Bowers took the 100 fly with a time of 1:01.35.

For the men, Ryan Campbell took the 1000 free in 10:35.01 and the 500 free in 5:01.59. Gelwicks won the 200 free in 1:44.97 and the 100 free in 48.29.

Doak Schultz won the 100 breast with a time of 1:03.07. Poeting won the 50 free by .01 with a time of 22.31.

Eric Jacques posted a score of 191.75 to win the 1-meter diving portion and a score of 188.75 to win the 3-meter portion.

Hunter Pierson won the 200 back with a time of 2:06.61. Trey Schopen won the 100 fly in 51.95.

Finally, the teams swept in the 400 free relay to close the meet. Fikse, Brown, Sells and Kate Murphy won in a time of 3:51.72, and Campbell, Schopen, Gelwicks and Wyatt Foss won in a time of 3:18.06.

With the prior meet win over Hiram, the Scots stay perfect in the NCAC. They will host the Wooster Invitational starting Nov. 29 for their next meet.
