For the fifth straight year, The College of Wooster women's swimming and diving team went unscathed in North Coast Athletic Conference dual meets, as the Fighting Scots topped Ohio Wesleyan University 129-102 on Saturday. Wooster's men's team has been nearly as impressive in its own right of late, as the Scots' 136-94 win over the Battling Bishops gave the Black and Gold a clean slate against NCAC foes in duals for the third time in the last four seasons.

Inclement weather forced the two league rivals to do a non-traveling format for the meet. That meant each team completed its portion of the meet at their respective home sites.

Sophomore Kate Murphy emerged as Wooster's lone triple-winner on the day, thanks in large part to her efforts on the Scots' relays. Murphy led off Wooster's winning 400 medley relay, with first-year Molly Likins, sophomore Anne Bowers, and sophomore Brooke Brown following suit to the tune of a 4:10.72. In the 400 freestyle relay, it was Brown, junior Nell Kacmarek, first-year Mia Chen, and Murphy leading the field with a 3:52.17. Individually, Murphy edged out Kacmarek by :00.06 to claim the blue ribbon in the 100 freestyle, an event in which Wooster occupied the top four spots.

Kacmarek and Likins rounded out the meet's double-winners for the Scots. Kacmarek cruised to a first-place finish in the 1,000 freestyle with her 11:18.51 leading the way by nearly 20 seconds. Likins' 2:29.67 in the 200 breaststroke was the top time among the 11 competitors.

Other first-place swims on the women's side were turned in by sophomore Hannah Langer in the 200 backstroke (2:13.93) and classmate Kera Sells in the 500 freestyle (5:38.72).

On the men's side, Cameron Gelwicks made the most waves, and that's because his winning time of 10:09.58 in the 1,000 freestyle marked the 10th-fastest in program history. Gelwicks now has a top-10 time in five different individual events, two of which are school records.

Gelwicks, one of five double-winners on the men's side, led off the Scots' top 400 freestyle relay. Senior Burke Poeting, sophomore Wyatt Foss, and senior Garrett Layde rounded out the winning quartet that touched at 3:18.69.

In the opening race, junior Trey Schopen, Poeting, Layde, and senior Ryan Campbell captured first-place in the 400 medley relay at 3:41.02. Schopen later logged a first-place clip of 1:56.34 in the 200 butterfly, an event in which the Scots went 1-2-3.

First-year Eric Jacques continued to shine in the diving well with first-place point hauls of 242.50 (one meter) and 227.00 (three meter).

Sophomore Josh Gluck rounded out the winners with a 2:01.67 in the 200 backstroke.

Wooster rounds out the dual-meet portion of its season at the University of Mount Union on Saturday, Jan. 26 at 1 p.m.
