Men's 800 Free Relay Earns All-NCAC Honors on Day 1; Gelwicks Breaks Own 200 Free Record

The College of Wooster men's and women's swimming and diving teams opened the 2019 North Coast Athletic Conference Swimming and Diving Championships on Wednesday with a school record already broken and All-NCAC honors on day one.

Cameron Gelwicks broke his own 200 free school record in the opening leg of the 800 free relay with a "B" cut time 1:39.19. He joined Wyatt Foss, Michael Crookshanks and Ryan Campbell in a third-place All-NCAC finish with a time of 6:51.98.

The Kenyon men won the 800 free relay with a time of 6:35.94.

For the women, Emma Fikse, Nell Kacmarek, Kera Sells and Madison Whitman raced to a time of 7:49.18 for a fifth place finish. Kenyon and Denison both swam a "B" cut with Kenyon coming in first at 7:20.31.

Wednesday consisted of just the 800 relays and women's diving. Wooster will return to the pool tomorrow when action starts back up with prelims at 9:30 a.m. at Denison University. Finals begin at 6 p.m.
