OBERLIN, Ohio – A handful of members from The College of Wooster men's and women's track and field teams traveled to Oberlin College on Friday to take part in the Crimson & Gold Invitational – a non-scoring event that opened the indoor track and field season for the Scots.

Spencer Wilson headlined the Scots' efforts with a school record in the weight throw. Wilson finished second in the event at 49-10.50 and was third in the shot put with a throw of 41-07.

The 4x200 relay gave the meet an exciting start as Cam Pollard, Drake Pence, Myles Parker and Justin Fox ran a time of 1:40.78 and were separated by .02 seconds from Thiel College's first place time.

Later, freshman William McMichael and Parker finished one-two in the 400 dash with times of 55.14 and 55.15.

Pence finished second in the 60 dash at 7.37, while Pollard ran a 7.66 for fifth. Pence also ran a 24.31 in the 200 dash for third, while Parker finished fourth at 24.61.

After a strong cross country campaign, senior Brian Lief continued right where he left off with a win in the 3000 run (9:34.34).

Sophomore Matt Klonowski finished first in the mile run with a time of 4:45.43, edging out Haverford's Simon Perales, who finished in 4:45.88.

On the women's side, junior Korri Palmer ran a time of 8.44 seconds in the 60 dash for first and a 29.41 for second in the 200 dash.

Freshman Maya Vasta finished first in the 200 dash at 28.73 and ran a 1:08.42 for second in the 400 dash.

In the 3000 run, three first years finished fifth through seventh in Kayla Bertholf (11:52.80), Marian Overfield (12:04.05) and Rachel Osterhouse (12:04.05).

In the field events, Wooster swept in the high jump. Jack Petrecca jumped a 6-04.75, and Carolyn Webster finished with a 5.00-25.

Webster also had the top long jump score at 16-05.25.

Sophomore Georgia Hopps-Weber had the top pole vault score at 9-08.

The Scots will regroup with members returning from winter break with their next meet Jan. 19 when they host the Wooster Quad.
