GRANVILLE, Ohio – The College of Wooster track and field teams competed at the Bob Shannon Invitational at Denison University on Saturday.

The women placed fifth of 14 teams, while the men placed ninth of 13. Ohio Wesleyan University won on the women's side with 107 points, and Carnegie Mellon University collected 189.5 points for the win on the men's side.

Wooster did not place any firsts but did have a few runner-up performances on the women's side.

Carolyn Webster jumped 17 feet-2.25 inches in the long jump, and first-year Saralee Renick triple-jumped 34 feet-0.25 inches for second place finishes.

Another first-year, Isabelle Hoover, raced to a second place finish in the 5,000 meter run with a time of 18:31.98, and then Audrey Cordova, Cobi Warstler, Kayla Bertholf, Marian Overfield raced a 13:44.43 in the women's distance medley.

Webster jumped 4 feet-11 inches for fourth place in the high jump with Claudia Partridge finishing right behind in fifth with a jump of 4 feet-9 inches. Webster also had a seventh place finish in the 60-meter hurdles (9.98).

First-year Kayla Bertholf ran an 11:15.66 for a fifth place finish in the 3,000 run. Cordova, Warstler, Maya Vasta and Overfield ran a 4:26.83 in the 4x400 relay for another fifth place finish. Korri Palmer was eighth in the 200 dash with a time of 28.87 seconds.

For the men, the 4x200 relay team had the best finish at third as Drake Pence, William McMichael, Kristian Coleman and Myles Parker ran a 1:35.67. Jordan Dennis was fourth in the 60 hurdles with a time of 9.14 seconds.

The 4x400 relay team also had a top-five finish with a fourth place time of 3:35.96 from McMichael, Parker, Matt Olszewski and Brian Lief.

Freshman Richard Pajak jumped 5 feet-10.75 inches to claim fifth in the high jump. Spencer Wilson had seventh place finishes in the weight throw (44-09) and the shot put (44-8.25).

Next up for the track teams is the All-Ohio Championships at Otterbein University on Feb. 9.
