Scots Claim Three All-Ohio Performances at Otterbein

David Westcott
Brian Lief

WESTERVILLE, Ohio – The men placed eighth and the women 11th as The College of Wooster track and field teams competed in the All-Ohio Division III Championships at Otterbein University on Saturday.

The men had three All-Ohio performances from Brian Lief, David Westcott and Jack Petrecca as each placed third in their respective events.

Westcott ran a 15:06.62 in the 5,000 run, while Lief ran a 4:23.95 in the mile. Petrecca jumped 1.92 meters in the high jump. Noteworthy, Westcott's time broke Brendan Callahan's school-record time of 15:10.27 set back in 2001.

The men also had three fourth place finishes that just missed the cut of being named All-Ohio. Kristian Coleman was one of those as he put together a triple jump score of 13.05 meters.

The other two came from the relays. The 4x200 team of Drake Pence, William McMichael, Jordan Dennis and Justin Fox raced to a time of 1:34.25, and missed third place by .12 seconds. The distance medley team of Aedan Pettit, Matt Olszewski, Simon Weyer and Matt Klonowski finished fourth as well with a time of 10:40.85.

Klonowski scored for the men in the 800 with a time of 1:59.83 for sixth. He also joined McMichael, Weyer and Lief for a sixth place finish in the 4x400 relay (3:33.34).

The women also had a pair of fourth place finishers. Isabelle Hoover placed in the 3,000 run with a time of 10:39.85. Claudia Partridge's 1.57-meter high jump put her fourth as well.

Carolyn Webster placed fifth in the long jump at 5.11 meters. Cobi Warstler, Audrey Cordova, Emani Kelley and Hoover scored a time of 13:10.37 for sixth in the distance medley, while Warstler, Cordova, Kelley and Zoe Covey were eighth in the 4x400 with a time of 4:19.89.

Otterbein and Mount Union tied with 124 points to share the men's All-Ohio crown. The Otterbein women won with 110 points.

Wooster will take part in the Kenyon Classic next week.
