Wooster Track & Field In Action at Oberlin

OBERLIN, Ohio -- The College of Wooster men's and women's track teams competed Saturday at the Bob Kahn Invitational hosted by Oberlin College. 

Wooster had plenty of top times and finishs in the non-scoring event.

Starting with distance races, Wooster had the only participants in the 10,000 run. Senior David Westcott had the best time at 32:03.70, and first-year Isabelle Hoover ran a 38:51.65 in an empty field.

Senior Brian Lief ran a 16:14.49 to win the 5,000, besting second place by five seconds. Marian Overfield had the best women's time, finishing eighth (20:30.13).

Aedan Pettit won the 800 run in 1:59.33. Zoe Covey finished third on the women's side (2:27.44).

In the relays, Wooster swept in the 4x400. The women's team of Emani Kelley, Maya Vasta, Audrey Cordova and Akwia Tilton won in 4:05.75. The men's team of Kristian Coleman, Jordan Dennis, Justin Fox and Drake Pence won in 3:34.15.

The men's 4x100 relay team of Pence, Cam Pollard, Coleman and Fox ran a 43.44 to win their event. The women's team of Carolyn Webster, Vasta, Claudia Partridge and Tilton finished second (50.95) in a three-team field.

William McMichael continued his solid first-year campaign and took the 400 dash in 50.07.

Partridge (13.654) was a tick faster than teammate Morgan Kromer (13.655) to win the 100 dash. On the men's side, Pence finished second in 11.38.

Vasta was third in the 400 hurdles (1:08.82) while Cordova followed (1:10.93) right behind. Jordan Dennis was fourth on the men's side (1:00.57).

Tilton was .01 seconds behind first in the 200 dash, finishing at 25.88. The men placed second through fourth in their event behind McMichael (22.73), Coleman (23.02) and Fox (23.10).

In field events, Partridge won the high jump in 1.53 meters. Carolyn Webster finished second at the same height. 

Coleman won the men's triple jump at 13.41 meters.

Richie Pajak was third in the men's high jump in 1.74 meters. Tilton was second in the long jump at 5.11 meters.

Spencer Wilson threw 41.08 meters for third in the discus. Conor Greene was fourth in 39.71 meters. Wilson also was second in shot put (13.26 meters) and fifth in the hammer throw (45.66 meters).

Jena Copley threw 30.36 meters in the javelin for fourth. On the men's side Cody Park threw 39.24 meters for fifth.

Up next, Wooster will compete at the Denison University Dual Meet on Wednesday.
