Carolyn Webster

Senior Carolyn Webster became the first student-athlete from The College of Wooster to win the North Coast Athletic Conference heptathlon, while three other Fighting Scots scored over the weekend at the NCAC Multi-Event Championships.

Webster, who earned her 18th all-conference certificate, logged 4,263 points over the two-day competition. Her 5 feet, 3.25 inches in the high jump marked the top clearance, and Webster was the only competitor to exceed 5 feet. In the javelin throw, Webster's top mark of 101 feet, 9 inches easily beat out the seven other competitors, with sophomore teammate Jena Copley's heave of 91 feet, 7 inches being the only other scoring measurement over 90 feet. Webster's other top showing came in the long jump, where she measured out at a season-best 17 feet, 2.75 inches.

First-year Maya Vasta was fifth with 3,451 points, while Copley's 3,340 points ranked the sophomore seventh. Vasta's efforts were headlined by a 26.42 in the 200 meters, which was the fastest time. Copley's javelin throw marked her best finish within an event.

Senior Jordan Dennis placed seventh in the decathlon with 4,898 points. Dennis' 5:14.16 in the 1,500 meters propelled the multi-event specialist into a scoring position. Earlier in the meet, Dennis led off the competition with a 11.40 in the 100 meters, a clip tied for the second-fastest in the competition. Dennis capped day one with a 52.66 in the 400 meters, with that being the second-fastest in the event.

The NCAC Championships take place at Kenyon College May 3-4.
