GAMBIER, Ohio – The College of Wooster track and field program tuned up for next week's North Coast Athletic Conference Championships with a non-scoring tri-meet on Friday evening at Kenyon College, where the Fighting Scots logged a dozen first-place finishes.

Wooster's series of close calls as far as the school record is concerned continued on Friday night in the 60-meter dash. There, junior Mark Herron's winning time of 7.18 seconds was just off Ben Kingstone's 2016 time of 7.17 second.

Sophomore William McMichael lowered his season-best time in the 400 meters to 51.48 seconds, which was the top clip out of the 12 competitors. He later anchored the Scots' winning 4x400 relay that crossed at 3:34.33. First-year Joe Shilts, junior Matt Olszewski, and senior Aedan Pettit also contributed to Friday's winning time.

Pettit beat out 13 other competitors in the mile with a time of 4:25.01, while sophomore Conor Greene's top mark in the weight throw came in at 40 feet, 11.75 inches. Sophomore Richie Pajak won the high jump after clearing 5 feet, 10.75 inches on his first attempt. First-year Luke Henke took second after clearing 5 feet, 10.75 inches on his second try.

Junior Christine Weber was the Scots other double winner on the night. She took first in the weight throw (35 feet, 8 inches) and shot put (34 feet, 9 inches). Sophomore Morgan Kromer's season-best mark of 10 feet, 6 inches led a trio of Scots in the pole vault, while first-year Sierra Lapasky took top honors in the long jump at 16 feet, 2.5 inches.

Senior Audrey Cordova's time of 1:03.76 was the clip to beat in the 400 meters at the meet. Sophomore Marian Overfield's winning time of 11:23.13 in the 3,000 meters was backed up by junior Emma Busch's runner-up 11:25.89.

The NCAC Championships are set for February 28-29 at Denison University. Sophomore Claudia Partridge will get a head start on the competition at Sunday's pentathlon, which is being held at Oberlin College.
