A 23-10 second quarter was the difference Wednesday night as The College of Wooster women's basketball team fell 86-76 to Case Western Reserve University.

Wooster held a 25-19 lead after the first quarter until the Spartans used their 23-10 second quarter run to go ahead 42-35 at halftime. Without the second quarter, the Scots held a 3-point margin for the course of the game.
The lead never dropped below eight for the remainder of the game.
Case's Kara Hageman led all scorers with 19 points, 14 of which came in the first half. Three other players scored in double figures for the Spartans including Kendall McConico (15), Abbey Lawrence (13) and Emma Cain (11).
Wooster was led with an 18-point performance by senior Anna Gibbs. Maria Janasko tallied 14 points and eight rebounds off the bench, while Kyle Croxton scored 13 and Akwia Tilton scored 11. Sarah Rapacz finished with nine points and eight rebounds.
Wooster shot 34 percent (23-for-68) to Case's 48 percent (31-for-65). Both teams shot under 30 percent from beyond the arc, and Wooster held the slight edge in free throw percentage (82 percent) after going 22-for-27 at the line.
The Spartans outrebounded the Scots 45-36. They outscored Wooster in the paint 44-28 and off the bench 30-25, but Wooster held the slight advantage in second chance points 22-19.
Case Western Reserve improves to 7-3 with the win, while Wooster drops to 4-9.
The Scots will return to North Coast Athletic Conference action Saturday when they host league leader DePauw University at 1 p.m.
