GREENCASTLE, Ind. – The College of Wooster women's basketball team wrapped up its season Saturday after suffering a 75-56 defeat to 19th-ranked DePauw University.
Wooster finishes the 2018-19 campaign at 6-19 and 2-14 in the North Coast Athletic Conference. Meanwhile, DePauw improves to 21-4 and 15-1 in the NCAC and will enter the NCAC Tournament as the No. 1 seed.
DePauw's Sydney Kopp led all scorers with 17 points, hitting 1,000 career points in the process. Maya Howard added 12 and became DePauw's new all-time career scoring leader.
In her final game for Wooster, senior Anna Gibbs scored a team-high 15 points with four assists, four steals and three rebounds.
Gibbs leaves her own legacy at Wooster, finishing with 1,238 career points for fifth all-time in program history. She's also finished ninth in field goals made (411), second in 3-pointers made (139), fourth in free throws made (277) and second in assists (346).
She was also one of two players since 1987 to play and start in every game she appeared. Her 102 games played is second in school history.
Wooster's other senior, Kyle Croxton, was the only other Scot in double figures with 10 points, seven of which came in the fourth quarter. In three years and 63 games played, Croxton accumulatd 425 career points.
DePauw led 39-25 at halftime and only strengthened that lead with a 23-7 third quarter. Wooster then took advantage of DePauw's second and third units with a 24-13 fourth quarter.
After DePauw scored the first two points of the quarter, Wooster went on a 17-5 run. First-year Masani Francis was a perfect 3-for-3 in the quarter and finished with seven points.
The Scots shot 31 percent (20-for-64) from the floor and from 3-point range (8-for-26). They were also 80 percent (8-for-10) from the free throw line.
DePauw went 25-for-54 (47 percent) from the court, 6-for-16 (38 percent) from range and 73 percent (19-for-26) from the charity stripe.
DePauw outrebounded the Scots 38-36 and outscored them in points in the paint, 30-22, bench points, 27-14, and second chance points, 13-7.
This is the second straight year the Scots have collected six wins.
