The College of Wooster women's golf team's entire lineup placed within the top 11 at the Allegheny College Women's Invitational, and the Fighting Scots captured runner-up honors on Monday with a two-day total of 677.

Wooster was in contention for the team title at the midpoint of the two-day tournament hosted at the par-73, 5,804-yard Country Club of Meadville in Meadville, Pa., as the Scots trailed Div. II Mercyhurst University by eight strokes after play on Sunday. The two teams held true to form on Monday with the Lakers outdistancing the Scots by eight more strokes. However, Wooster finished well in front of Allegheny's third-place score of 715.

Sophomore Tongtong Wu led the way for the Scots with a fourth-place finish. Wu shot an 82 on Sunday and followed that up with an 81 over the final 18 holes.

Junior Hannah Appleman opened play on Sunday with a career-low 82, and finished just off her collegiate 36-hole best of 169. Appleman's 171 was good for a tie for seventh-place, and the finish marked her second career top-10 showing.

Junior Kaci Carpenter fired an 86 on Sunday, thanks to four birdies on the day. Carpenter followed that up with an 87 and placed ninth at 173.

Sophomores Megan Gronau and Lilly Dunning placed 10th and 11th, respectively. Gronau charged up the leaderboard with an 84 on Monday after opening with a 90. Dunning on the other hand, remained consistent throughout the tournament with rounds of 87 and 88.

Sophomore Devon Matson competed as an individual and tied for 26th-place at 191.

Next, Wooster competes at the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Fall Preview held Sept. 29-30.
