The College of Wooster women's golf team's stellar fall resulted in a third straight top-three showing this weekend, as the Fighting Scots' 693 edged out Hanover College's 694 for third-place at the Earlham College Fall Invitational held at the par-70, 5800-yard Liberty Country Club in Liberty, Ind.

Sophomore Megan Gronau led the way with a 13th-place finish at 169. Gronau opened play with an 82 on Saturday, a total tied for the Scots' low round of the weekend. The sophomore followed that up with an 87 on Sunday.

Classmate Tongtong Wu fired Wooster's other 82 on the weekend, and that came on Sunday. Wu entered the day in 25th-place after a 90 on Saturday, but finished tied for 15th-place at 172.

Sophomore Lilly Dunning finished a stroke back of a spot in the top-20 with a 177. Dunning opened with an 87 on Saturday and followed that up with a 90 on Sunday.

Juniors Hannah Appleman and Kaci Carpenter both tied for 27th-place at 180, and rounded out the Scots' lineup. Appleman's 86 marked the Scots' second-lowest round on Saturday, while Carpenter improved by two strokes with an 89 on Sunday.

First-year Kayla Audette was one of two Scots competing in the tournament as an individual. Wooster's rookie placed 14th at 171.

Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology edged out Transylvania University for the team title. The two squads both shot a 640 for the two-day tournament, but the Fightin' Engineers edged out the Pioneers on the tiebreaker.

Transylvania's Meredith Moir was the medalist at 152.

Next, Wooster wraps up its fall schedule by hosting the Eva Shorb Weiskopf Invitational. The two-day tournament is slated for Oct. 5-6 at Wooster Country Club.
