WOOSTER, Ohio – The College of Wooster women's golf team pulled away from the field on Sunday to win the 10-team Eva Shorb Weiskopf Invitational at 671, and the Fighting Scots turned in a series of program firsts this weekend at the par-72, 5,803-yard Wooster Country Club.

With the win, Wooster captured a pair of first-place finishes in the same season for the first time in program history, and it marked the first time the Scots won a tournament hosted by the College. Additionally, Wooster's margin of victory – 44 strokes – shattered the previous record of 36 set at the 2017 Ohio Wesleyan University Fall Invitational.

Sophomore Tongtong Wu became the first student-athlete in program history to win two tournaments, while Wooster's team win marked the first time the Scots have won two tournaments in the same year.

Sophomore Tongtong Wu's steady play on the weekend made her the first student-athlete in program history to capture a pair of medalist honors in traditional tournaments. Wu carried a one-stroke lead over Ohio Wesleyan's Alexis Reichardt into Sunday's round thanks to an 81 on Saturday. Wu widened her lead to three strokes over the final 18 holes and finished at 165.

Classmate Megan Gronau fired back-to-back 84s and climbed past Reichardt on the leaderboard during Sunday's round to finish as the tournament's runner-up. The second-place finish marked Gronau's third top-10 showing in the Scots' four fall tournaments.

Ohio Wesleyan was within striking distance entering play on Sunday as Wooster's 339 was only six strokes better than the Battling Bishops' 345. That quickly changed on Sunday thanks in large part to the play of junior Hannah Appleman. Appleman's 80 over the final 18 holes marked the low round of the tournament, and it was 13-stroke improvement over Saturday's 93. Appleman climbed to sixth-place at 173 after starting the day tied for 23rd-place.

Junior Kaci Carpenter's play on Sunday also factored in heavily to Wooster pulling away from the field. Carpenter matched her collegiate low with an 84 during Sunday's round, and at 174, she placed seventh in what also marked her third top-10 showing of the season.

Sophomore Lilly Dunning rounded out the lineup and tied for eighth-place at 175, in what marked her second top-10 outing of the fall. Dunning's 84 on Saturday tied for the Scots' second-lowest round of the day, and the sophomore went on to finish at 175.

Noteworthy, Wooster didn't finish lower than third-place at its four fall tournaments, and head-to-head, the Scots went 33-3 against other collegiate teams. Wooster's student-athletes combined for 13 top-10 finishes.
