The College of Wooster women's golf team finished behind a quartet of NCAA Div. I programs, but was the best non-Div. I squad at Thursday's Savannah State University Spring Fling, contested at the par-72, 5,594-yard Crosswinds Golf Club in Savannah, Ga.

Sophomore Tongtong Wu led the way for the Fighting Scots with one of four sub-90 rounds on the day for the Black and Gold. Wu tied for 18th in the field of 43, and was the top non-Div. I golfer with an 85.

Classmate Megan Gronau was right behind with an 87, while junior Hannah Appleman rounded out the top-25 trio with an 88.

Lilly Dunning's 89 placed the sophomore just outside the top 25, while junior Kaci Carpenter tied for 31st-place with a 97 to round out the lineup.

First-year Kayla Audette also carded a 97 to lead a quartet of Scots playing as individuals.

For the day Wooster carded a 349.

Butler University's 314 led the field while Youngstown State University's Victoria Grans was the medalist with an even-par 72.

Leading up to the competition round, Wooster played and practiced at three prestigious courses in the Bluffton and Hilton Head Island vicinities of South Carolina. First, Wooster practiced at Old South Golf Links, the only local public golf course along the inter-coastal waterway.

Next, Wooster practiced and played at Berkely Hall Club, which features two world-class Tom Fazio courses and a stunning Jeffersonian-style clubhouse. It's also the lowest density private club in the Southeast in terms of home sites per hole.

Finally, Wooster stopped by Wexford Plantation, an Arnold Palmer signature course that has been rated as one of the top 100 residential golf course in the U.S. in Golfweek's "Ultimate Guide to Golf Course Living & Great Escapes" four of the last five years.

Wooster is slated to open the Northern portion of its spring on March 30th at the Mount Saint Joseph University Miami Whitewater Classic.
