Scots Take 3-1 Win in Home Opener, Brown Gets 300th Win

WOOSTER, Ohio -- Head coach Geordie Brown collected his 300th career win on Friday, and The College of Wooster women's soccer team got the 2018 season underway with a 3-1 win over Adrian College.

Three different players scored for the Scots as sophomore Mila Zunich broke the scoreless tie in the 32nd minute after punching in her third career goal. Fellow sophomore Miura Wiley found Zunich on the right side of the field, and Zunich scored from about 12 yards out.

The lead did not last long, however, as Adrian sophomore Megan Louwers scored unassisted in the 37th minute. The score remained 1-1 heading into halftime.

Wooster started to break away in the 49th minute when junior Claire Davis found senior Erica White open down the field. White, one-on-one with goalie, got her shot into the back of the net and gave the Scots a 2-1 lead.

Almost 35 minutes went by before Wooster could finally take a breather. In the 84th minute senior Devin Frisby was fouled and made the most of a free kick opportunity near the top of the box. For Frisby, it was her sixth career goal.

The Bulldogs attempted one more shot in the final six minutes, but it was wide. The Scots then almost went up by another goal in the 89th minute, but White's attempt at a two-goal game was stopped by goalie Ayverie Giller.

Sophomore Molly Hutter (1-0) recorded her first career win in goal as she made four saves. Giller (0-1) also collected four saves for the Bulldogs.

Wooster took 10 shots in the game, while Adrian took nine. Adrian could not capitalize on any of its five corner kicks, and Wooster couldn't do anything with its two.

It was both teams' first game of the season as Wooster moves to 1-0, and Adrian drops to 0-1.

The Fighting Scots will take their 1-0 record on the road Sunday when they head to Heidelberg University for a 2 p.m. contest.
