WOOSTER, Ohio -- The College of Wooster women's soccer team battled through rain and mud and came away with a 4-1 win over Washington and Jefferson College on Saturday.

The Scots played a player up for all but 2:43 as an early red card on Presidents' goalkeeper Shayla Watkins ejected her from the game. Senior Devin Frisby had a one-on-one with the keeper and looked to have her beat until Watkins slid into her.

Frisby's ensuing free kick was saved by new goalkeeper Beth Boyles, but Frisby's next opportunity wasn't too far away. In the 17th minute, Miura Wiley found Frisby in the middle of the field near the top of the box, and Frisby connected for her second goal of the season to put the Scots up 1-0.

Four minutes later, junior Claire Davis capitalized on a deflection and scored as Wooster took that 2-0 lead into halftime.

In the second half, Wooster again made quick, consecutive goals. Erica White, off the assist from Frisby, scored at the 49th minute, and Davis scored her second goal of the game 30 seconds later in the same 49th minute off an assist from Kelsey Stone.

It was White's second goal of the season and Davis' second and third.

Washington and Jefferson finally got on the board in the 70th minute. After goalkeeper Maddy Ireton made a diving save, Michelle Cicalese scored off the deflection in front of the net.

Ireton played the entire second half in net and made three saves. However, Molly Hutter played the first 45 minutes and collected her second win of the season.

Wooster outshot the Presidents 18-5 and won the corner kick advantage 7-2.

The women are now 3-0-1, while Washington and Jefferson moves to 0-2-1. The women return to action Wednesday when they host Mount St. Joseph.
