Scots' Attack Too Much for Hiram in 2-0 Victory

WOOSTER, Ohio -- The College of Wooster women's soccer team controlled the pace Tuesday against Hiram College and got back in the win column with a 2-0 victory over the Terriers.

The Scots rebounded following a 2-1 overtime loss to Oberlin College last week. The win puts them at 9-2-3 overall and still atop the North Coast Athletic Conference at 5-1.

Wooster dominated play from the start, outshooting Hiram 21-1. In fact, Hiram's (2-12, 2-3) lone shot came off a free kick in the ninth minute on an attempt that went wide.

Erica White tallied her team-leading 12th goal in the Scots' 2-0 NCAC win over Hiram.

Holly Thompson came on in the 31st minute and six minutes later put Wooster on the board with her first score of the year. Krissy Blanchard was credited with the assist as she crossed the ball to Thompson in the middle of the box.

Wooster took the 1-0 lead into halftime and struck again in the 56th minute. Kelsey Stone on the corner kick found Mackenzie Goltz who found Erica White who headed in her 12th goal of the season.

Molly Hutter and Maddy Ireton each played a half but neither recorded a save. Hutter improved to 8-1-2 on the year. Hiram keeper Ally Green made 11 saves.

Wooster also took 11 corner kicks to Hiram's one.

The Scots now have 15 points atop the NCAC standings as Denison lurks in second with 11. The two teams will meet noon Saturday at Carl Dale Field.
