Scots Capture First NCAC Win

Mila Zunich
Mackenzie Goltz

Hiram, Ohio – The College of Wooster women's soccer team picked up its first win in the North Coast Athletic Conference behind a 2-0 victory at Hiram College on Tuesday.

Junior Miura Wiley was involved with both scores, while senior defender Mackenzie Goltz scored her first collegiate goal.

In the 32nd minute, Wiley recorded the assist on a cross as she found classmate Mila Zunich for a straight-on shot near the top of the goalie box.

The Scots rode the 1-0 lead into halftime. Ten minutes into the second half, Wiley was tackled inside the goalie box, and that set up a penalty kick opportunity for Goltz.

Goltz kicked the ball off the left foot and found an opening near the upper right post for the score. Hiram keeper Ally Green, who finished with seven saves, extended herself, but the ball was just out of reach.

Junior Molly Hutter finished the shutout with three saves. The Scots outshot the Terriers 15-7, and both teams took four corners.

Hiram drops to 3-11 overall and 0-3 in the NCAC. Wooster improves to 8-2-2 and is now 1-1-1 in the NCAC.

The Scots travel to Wittenberg University on Saturday.
