Scots Play to 0-0 Tie with Ladies

Senior Krissy Blanchard takes aim during the team's 0-0 tie with Kenyon.

The College of Wooster women's soccer team tied Kenyon College 0-0 on Wednesday.

Both teams earn a point in the tight North Coast Athletic Conference race with just three games remaining. Kenyon is third with 10 points at 3-1-1, and Wooster is fourth with eight points at 2-1-2.

On Wednesday, Wooster (9-2-3) dominated time of possession but could not make their efforts count, outshooting the Ladies 25-7.

The Scots outshot Kenyon (6-6-1) 10-0 in the first half alone. Their best chance in the first 45 minutes came when junior Mila Zunich had a shot saved by a Kenyon defender.

The game evened out in the second half with Wooster holding an 8-6 shot advantage. Zunich had a shot saved with seconds remaining on the game clock and the ensuing corner kick did not amount to anything.

Wooster then turned up the pressure in overtime, outshooting the Ladies 7-1, but again could not connect with a goal.

Junior goalkeeper Molly Hutter had just two saves, while her counterpart  Jillian Countey recorded 11. Wooster took 11 corner kicks to Kenyon's four.

This was the first meeting since last year when Wooster took two games against the Ladies. Wooster won 3-1 in Gambier and 2-1 in the NCAC Tournament semifinals at John P. Papp Stadium.

Wooster will look to increase its standing in the NCAC on Saturday when they host Oberlin College.
