Scots Victorious on Senior Day as NCAC Season Winds Down

Payton Gennett got the start on senior day in Wooster's 2-0 win over Oberlin.

The College of Wooster women's soccer team celebrated senior day with a 2-0 win over Oberlin College on Saturday.

More importantly, it kept the Scots involved in a tight race to make the upcoming North Coast Athletic Conference Tournament.

Wooster improved to 10-2-3 overall and 3-1-2 in the conference. They currently sit in fourth place with two games remaining on the schedule.

They got the job done Saturday with a first half goal from junior Mila Zunich and an early second half goal from junior Miura Wiley. Zunich scored off a breakaway, while Wiley scored off a corner kick from senior Kelsey Hall.

It was the fourth goal of the season for both of them.

Wooster dominated the Yeowomen (4-13-1, 0-7 NCAC), outshooting them 25-2 and winning the corner kick advantage 9-0. Molly Hutter had an easy day in net, needing to make just one save.

A bit of bad luck prevented the Scots from running away with this one. Senior Krissy Blanchard had a shot saved by a defender, and classmate Krenare Rakoci had a string of four shots in the final six minutes of the game hit either the post or the crossbar.

Yet, Wooster walked away with the win despite the rainy conditions that were on display.
