NCAC Women's Soccer Tournament Central

Saturday's Outlook: The No. 2 seed College of Wooster women's soccer team will travel to No. 1 seed DePauw University for the championship game of the North Coast Athletic Conference Tournament at 7 p.m. Saturday. The game will be played at Reavis Stadium.

How we got here: In the semifinals, Wooster took down third-seeded Denison University 2-0. Juniors Mila Zunich and Miura Wiley scored to put the Scots over the top. Read the game recap here. Late Wednesday, DePauw survived against fourth-seeded Kenyon College in 2-1 game. Kenyon tied it in the 78th minute, DePauw was able to answer in the 88th minute behind a goal from senior Alex Berkley. Read the game recap here.

About the last meeting: Wooster welcomed DePauw to Carl Dale Field on Oct. 5 as the teams played to a 0-0 tie. DePauw, who went unbeaten during conference play, had just two ties against them in Wooster and Denison. The game was Wooster's first game in NCAC contests this season. Wooster outshot the Tigers 13-8, and the Scots had an opportunity in overtime that was squandered by a defensive save.

Shutting out the opposition: Junior goalkeeper Molly Hutter has not allowed a goal in seven straight games. In that span, the team is 6-0-1, and Hutter has collected 24 saves. On the season, she has played all but 4:10 in net. She has made 74 saves for a .881 save percentage and has allowed just 10 goals. Her goal against average of 0.53 and save percentage tops the NCAC.

Plenty of scoring options: Wooster has turned into a team that can get scoring from a number of players. Nine different players have scored a goal this season, including three who scored their first collegiate goals (Kelsey Stone, Mackenzie Goltz and Brie Jarrell). Meanwhile, a different three have taken over as main scoring threats. Wiley and Zunich join sophomore Holly Thompson in the team-lead for goals with six. Wiley has also turned into the team's top playmaker with a team-high six assists. After a goal and an assist against Denison in the semifinal, she leads the team in points with 19. The 19 points puts her third in the conference, and her seven assists ties her for atop the conference lead.

A deeper look at the season: Wooster is 13-2-3 overall and finished second in NCAC play at 5-1-2. They have not lost or allowed a goal since Oct. 12 which was a 2-1 loss in overtime to Ohio Wesleyan University. Overtime has been tricky for the Scots. They are 0-1-3 on the year, which included scoreless ties with DePauw and Kenyon. They have shutout opponents in 12 of their 13 wins and have only been shut out three times themselves.

Who are the Tigers?: DePauw enters at 12-5-2 overall after claiming the NCAC regular season title at 6-0-2. They started the season at 2-3 with losses to Texas-Dallas, Centre and WashU. However, once conference play opened, they have not suffered a defeat in their last 10 games. Berkley leads the team with 21 points, eight goals and five assists. She also is second in the NCAC in points and goals and is tied for third with assists. Collectively, DePauw's 37 goals leads the league, but in conference play they are ranked fourth with nine, one behind Wooster.

Historically Speaking: This will be the 14th meeting between the two squads. Wooster holds a slight 6-4-3 lead. This will be their first meeting against one another in the NCAC Tournament.

Remembering the 2018 NCAC Tournament: Last year's tournament was one to remember for Wooster. Entering as the No. 2 seed, the Scots scored two late goals to defeat Kenyon 2-1 in the semifinals. They then hosted fourth-seeded Wittenberg in the championship game and defeated the Tigers 4-0 to take their first NCAC Tournament Championship and to make their first NCAA appearance since 1996.
