Scots Open NCAC East with 7-2 Loss to Yeowomen

The College of Wooster women's tennis team opened divisional play Friday at Oberlin College and lost 7-2.

Wooster's two wins came at No. 2 doubles and No. 6 singles.

Qingyue Li and Meklit Minassie took an 8-7 win to put Wooster on the board, while Emma Saxton gave the Scots its lone singles win 6-4, 6-4.

The No. 1 doubles team of Sarah Duran and Laura Haley lost 8-4, and the No. 3 team of Saxton and Kendra Devereux lost 8-1.

Li lost her first singles match of the year in a 6-3, 6-2 loss to Delaney Black at the No. 1 flight. Sarah Duran lost her first dual match of the season, falling to Claudia Olaes 6-2, 6-3 in the No. 2 spot.

Haley fell 6-1, 6-2 in the No. 3 spot. Minassie lost 6-2, 6-1 at the No. 4 flight, and Devereux lost 6-2, 6-0 in the No. 5 flight.

Wooster drops to 8-4, while Oberlin improves to 4-10. The Scots travel to Ohio Wesleyan on Sunday.
