Women's Tennis Sweep Gators 9-0

The women's tennis team swept Allegheny College 9-0 Saturday at the D.J. Hard Tennis Courts on The College of Wooster campus.

The Scots blanked the Gators on two doubles matches and three singles flights as they collected their first North Coast Athletic Conference East Division win.

Shannon Sertz and Emma Saxton opened play with a 8-0 win at the No. 3 flight. Qingyue Li and Meklit Minassie did the same at No. 2, winning 8-0. Sarah Duran and Laura Haley was a game off from joining them but still held a decisive 8-1 win in the No. 1 flight.

Duran at No. 2, Haley at No. 3 and Sertz at No. 4 all won 6-0, 6-0 in their respective flights. Li at No.1 and Saxton at No. 6 shared 6-1, 6-0 scores. Finally, Minassie won 6-3, 6-1 in the No. 5 flight.

Noteworthy, Li collected her 42nd career singles win to put her in the top-5 in program history for most wins.

Wooster improves to 10-4 overall and 1-1 in the division, while Allegheny falls to 7-8 and 0-1 in the NCAC East. The Scots travel to Kenyon on Wednesday to wrap up their division schedule.
