The College of Wooster women's tennis team's season ended on a high note, as the Fighting Scots improved one spot from its seed by taking the North Coast Athletic Conference's fifth-place match from Wittenberg University, 5-1, on Saturday morning at North Central High School in Indianapolis, Indiana.

Wooster (12-6) flipped the script from the regular-season meeting, which was won by Wittenberg (8-10), 7-2. The Scots' 180-degree turnaround started with a tightly contested doubles sweep. First-years Meklit Minassie and Emma Saxton won 8-3, with that line later backed up by juniors Qingyue Li and Shannon Sertz at No. 1 (8-7 (2)) and sophomores Sarah Duran and Laura Haley at No. 2 (8-7 (6)).

Noteworthy, Sertz's win at doubles marked the junior's 75th, and she's the 10th student-athlete in program history to reach the milestone.

Coincidentally, Sertz clinched the victory with a 6-1, 6-0 win over Alivia Livesay.

Saxton rounded out the winners with a 6-1, 7-6 (3) victory at No. 6.

Li now heads into her senior season with 85 career wins, a total tied for the fourth-most in program history.

Coupled with last year's 15-5 finish, Wooster's now posted back-to-back seasons above .500 for the first time since 1997-98.
