WOOSTER, Ohio – The College of Wooster women's tennis team's home debut didn't go as planned for the Fighting Scots, as the Black and Gold fell 6-3 to John Carroll University on Saturday morning at Aspen Racquet Club.
Wooster's (3-1) junior class led the way in singles play against John Carroll (1-2), the premier program in the Ohio Athletic Conference. Sarah Duran's match in the second flight started with a 7-5 win in set one. John Carroll's Kathryn Mattimoe bounced back with a 6-1 win in set two, before Duran rebounded to win the tiebreaker 10-4.
At No. 5, Laura Haley won 6-4, 6-3 against Roslyn Ng.
Wooster's other win came in the top doubles flight. There, senior Shannon Sertz and first-year Ishika Gupta downed Megan Reese and Skye Harwood 8-5.
Wooster's back in action at Aspen Racquet Club on Sunday, February 16 at 9 a.m. against DePauw University (0-2).
