A rough Friday for The College of Wooster women's tennis team as they failed to take a set against 25th-ranked Denison University in a 9-0 loss.

Denison (2-1), ranked fourth regionally and picked second in the preseason North Coast Athletic Conference Coaches' Poll, lost just four games collectively in doubles action to start play at the Aspen Racquet Club.

The No. 1 team of Qingyue Li and Ishika Gupta, as well as the No. 2 team of Shannon Sertz and Laura Haley, each went down 8-2. The first-year duo of Abby Kushner Benson and Kathryn Materick fell 8-0 at the No. 3 flight.

Li gave Alex Cash a fight in the first set of their No. 1 singles match, but Li fell 6-3, 6-0. Gupta took two games in each set of her loss at the No. 2 flight.

Sertz fell 6-1, 6-1 in the No. 3 flight, and Sarah Duran lost 6-1, 6-0 at No. 4. Haley lost a 6-2, 6-0 match at No. 5, and Materick fell at the No. 6 flight to Izzy Hart 6-1, 6-2.

Wooster (4-3) will get right back into the action Sunday when they host William Smith College as the Aspen Racquet Club.
