GREENCASTLE, Ind. – The College of Wooster volleyball team dropped its North Coast Athletic Conference match at DePauw University 25-16, 25-13, 25-15 on Saturday afternoon.

Wooster (7-11, 1-2 NCAC) and DePauw (11-6, 3-1 NCAC) were neck-to-neck early on, thanks to a few strong serves by the Fighting Scots. Junior Meghan Botsch's ace pulled Wooster within 11-9, and a short while later, first-year Sydney Fitzcharles had the Scots within two again after her ace made it 14-12. Next, Wooster pulled even closer on first-year Emily Gail's kill, but back-to-back kills by Morgan Stearly, this week's NCAC Player of the Week, started an 11-3 Tigers' run.

The Scots strongest stretch in the second set came about midway through the frame. There, Wooster logged a 6-1 run, with Gail turning in the strongest positive contributions with a kill and block.

Wooster's third set highlights included back-to-back Botsch kills, and a frame-opening 4-0 run that featured an ace by senior Anna Medema and a Gail kill.

Fitzcharles led Wooster with 18 digs, while Medema's seven kills were the team-high. Speaking of Medema, the Scots' senior upped her career-high in digs for the second straight match, this time to 13.

Stearley led all players with 12 kills, and she finished with a double-double after a 14-dig afternoon. The Tigers' Jenna Purichia logged 21 digs to lead all players.

Next, Wooster's off to Washington, D.C. for a pair of matches, the first of which takes place at Catholic University of America at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, October 8.
