WASHINGTON, D.C. – The College of Wooster volleyball team capped its time in the nation's capital with a 25-23, 25-20, 25-23 sweep over Gallaudet University on Wednesday evening.

Wooster's (8-12) 9-1 run in the opening set proved clutch down the stretch, as Gallaudet (5-20) was within one at 15-14 and again at 24-23. Sophomore Seven Townsel's kill jump-started the run, which included two kills by senior Anna Medema. A pair of aces served up by sophomore Katie Billetdeaux helped the Scots cap the scoring spree with an 11-7 lead. After Gallaudet pulled within 15-14, Wooster scored the next five points, with first-year Emily Gail's kill sparking that stretch.

Billetdeaux and Medema combined for nine of Wooster's 14 kills in the second set, and the duo swatted down Malia Zornoza's attack attempt at 18-13. The Bison again threatened late, with Karita Lewis and Cassidy Perry's block cutting Wooster's lead to two at 21-19, but a set-leading nine digs by Wooster first-year Hayley Nash spearheaded a strong defensive showing.

Three straight Billetdeaux kills headlined Wooster's late third-set rally. The Scots found themselves down 20-19, and then a Bison service error and attack error tipped the scale Wooster's way. Billetdeaux took matters into her own hands from there, and her fifth kill of the frame marked the match-clincher.

Billetdeaux's 13 kills led all players, while Medema logged her third double-double over Wooster's last four matches with 12 digs and 10 kills. Nash's 18 digs marked the match-high, while Billetdeaux finished with a co-match-leading three aces.

Lewis was the stat-stuffer for Gallaudet with 17 digs, 10 kills, and four blocks.

Next, Wooster's (1-2 North Coast Athletic Conference) back home for an 11:30 a.m. match on Saturday, October 12 versus conference-leading Denison University (13-5, 4-0 NCAC).
