Shaul Leads Wooster Runners at OWU Invitational

Three College of Wooster women finished among the top-40 at the Ohio Wesleyan University Invitational, which featured 15 NCAA Div. III schools, including Meredith Shaul's team-leading run that led the women to 10th of 15 overall. The Fighting Scot men finished 12th of 14 overall.

Shaul, a junior, led Wooster's women, who are ranked ninth in the region, with a 28th-place showing out of 238 total competitors with a time of 19:38.5. Fellow classmates Erin Ogan-Plews and Sarah Appleton were not far behind, finishing in 35th (19:47.4) and 37th-place (19.48.), respectively.

Colleen O' Neil was next for the women in 20:47.5, good for 87th-place, while Suzanne Capehart just missed the top-100 in 21:05.0.

The men had a top-40 finish of their own, as first-year harrier Luke Hutchings-Goetz paced Wooster with a 40th-place (27:08.7) effort. Sophomore Kevin Degroot was just a few strides behind en route to 62nd-place (27:35.7), and Micah Caunter rounded out the men's top finishes by taking 83rd (28:06.1) among the 204 competitors.

Wooster's next event will be the Otterbein Invitational at Westerville, Ohio on Sept. 25.
