Knauf's 15-Strikeout Start Results in NCAC Honor

Corey Knauf, Wooster baseball Sophomore Corey Knauf turned in an outing for the record book during The College of Wooster's 16-4 Friday afternoon win over Williams College, and on Monday, the right-hander collected North Coast Athletic Conference Pitcher of the Week honors.

Knauf recorded the program's first 15-strikeout game since 1944 on Friday at Chain O' Lakes Stadium. His 15 strikeouts are the third-most in program history and the most since Stan Partenheimer's program record 19 in 1944. Knauf struck out the side in the first and second innings, and had seven strikeouts through two innings. He struck out three in the third, two in the fifth, and two in the sixth. Strikeout 15 came on the final out of the complete-game performance.

Knauf is Wooster's second NCAC Pitcher of the Week in the last three weeks. Senior Mitchell Reardon earned the March 14 selection following six innings of one-hit shutout baseball against Sewanee: The University of the South.

Wooster (8-4) is next in action at No. 11 Baldwin Wallace University (13-2) at 4 p.m. on Wednesday, March 30. Wooster's scheduled game on March 29 against John Carroll University (6-9) has been postponed and no makeup date has been announced yet.
