ABCA Team Academic Excellence Award Release

The College of Wooster baseball team earned the American Baseball Coaches Association Team Academic Excellence Award, as announced by the organization on Wednesday. This is Wooster's fourth time qualifying for the award, which started following the 2016 season.

Wooster's baseball program has enjoyed an impressive haul of recent academic accomplishments. Alumnus Michael Thomas headlined the honors this year as a second-team College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-American®, and the baseball program now has a three-year run of a student-athlete earning Academic All-America® honors.

Earlier this summer, 15 baseball student-athletes earned North Coast Athletic Conference Academic Honor Roll status, and the program led the way with the most honorees from a men's team at the College.

Wooster went 35-17 this spring and advanced to the NCAA Div. III Super Regional. Alumnus Ben Gbur earned an ABCA Gold Glove and first-team ABCA All-America honors, and alumnus Tyler Chumita was voted to D3baseball.com's All-America team.
