Westrick One of Region 7's Best

Eli Westrick, Wooster Baseball D3baseball.com All-Region Team | ABCA All-Region Team

The College of Wooster's Eli Westrick was voted first-team D3baseball.com and second-team American Baseball Coaches Association/Rawlings All-Region 7, as announced by the organizations over the last two days. This marks Westrick's first year earning all-region honors and he is the program's second second baseman to be a first-team D3baseball.com all-region honoree since the website started its regional awards program in 2012.

Westrick led Wooster with a .418 average (71-for-170) this spring, and he reached base safely nearly half the time, with his .497 on-base percentage ranking fourth within the North Coast Athletic Conference. The first-team all-conference selection ranks 86th nationally in average and had the fourth-highest mark within the conference. The junior was tops on the team in runs (39) and doubles (14) and had 26 RBI, 23 walks, four triples, and three homers on his 2023 stat line.

Westrick hit .388 (31-for-80) in 19 games that came against teams ranked in the final 2023 NCAA Div. III regional rankings. Overall, Westrick had 21 multi-hit games on the year, and his best stretch came between April 16 and 22, where he went 15-for-24 with seven RBI, six runs scored, two homers, and a double over five games.

The sure-handed fielder is an ABCA/Rawlings Gold Glove candidate. He made just three errors in 181 chances for a .983 fielding percentage. Westrick's fielding stats average out to having nearly five chances per game.

All-American Eddie Reese (2013) was Wooster's other first-team D3baseball.com All-Region second baseman.
