Game-Winner Nets Hissong NCAC Honor

Cole Hissong, Wooster Football Senior tight end Cole Hissong, who caught the game-winning touchdown in The College of Wooster football team's 26-point come-from-behind 44-43 win over archrival Wittenberg University on Saturday, is this week's North Coast Athletic Conference Offensive Athlete of the Week, as announced by the conference office on Monday.

Hissong found the soft spot in front of three Wittenberg defenders as senior quarterback Mateo Renteria was scrambling away from two Tigers. Renteria found his favorite target for the 7-yard touchdown pass with :11 remaining, and that score capped a comeback in a game Wooster trailed 33-7 in the third quarter.

In the game, Hissong caught nine passes for 102 yards. He surpassed 100 yards for the second time this season, while the nine receptions marked a season-best.  Earlier on the go-ahead drive, Hissong caught a 7-yard pass on a third-and-5 play from the Tigers' 25-yard line.

This is Hissong's second NCAC Athlete of the Week award. He was selected for his first on October 20, 2020.

Next, Wooster (5-3, 3-3 NCAC) hosts Denison University (6-2, 4-2 NCAC) at 1 p.m. on Saturday, November 5.
