Game-Saving Breakup Helps Journell to NCAC Weekly Award

Tate Journell, Wooster Football A game-saving breakup in the final minute landed College of Wooster football two-way star Tate Journell as this week's North Coast Athletic Conference Defensive Player of the Week. The NCAC announced its weekly honors on Monday afternoon.

Journell knocked away The University of Olivet's two-point conversion pass with inside a minute remaining in Saturday's 24-22 Wooster victory. Wooster went on to seal the game by recovering the onside kick.

Earlier, the starting defensive back and wide receiver jumped in front of an Olivet player for a fourth-quarter interception. The pick marked Journell's first of his collegiate career. He was also credited with four tackles in the game.

Wooster (1-1, 0-0 NCAC) opens conference play at Ohio Wesleyan University (1-1, 0-0 NCAC) at 7 p.m. on Saturday, September 16.
