In an absolute mismatch from start to finish, The College of Wooster field hockey team delivered an impressive 9-0 rout over North Coast Athletic Conference opponent Earlham College Saturday afternoon at Richmond, Ind.

In what was their most lopsided win since a 7-0 shutout at Oberlin College a season ago, the Scots (6-5, 6-2 NCAC) dominated the Quakers (2-10, 0-9 NCAC) in all facets of the game, including shot attempts (35-4) and penalty corners (17-3). It took less than a minute for Wooster to get onto the scoreboard, as Amanda Artman rattled the cage on an assist from Nina Dine just 53 seconds into the action. From that moment on, it was all Wooster.

Artman notched her second goal of the game at 6:57 on a Kate Valora dish, and Stephanie Standera converted on a penalty corner minutes later, giving the Scots a 3-0 edge early in the first half. Eileen Barrer and Isabelle Howes added scores before the break, with the latter's goal coming on Anna Regan's first career assist, pushing the advantage to 5-0.

Just over four minutes into the second frame, Wooster already had added two more goals, as Nikki Sever and Clare Nelson-Johnson got in on the scoring onslaught. It was Laura German that notched Wooster's eight and ninth goals, as she scored twice over a 1:40 stretch, with one coming on a penalty corner, and both via assists from Christine Goglia.

Offensively, Artman led Wooster with five points (2 goals, 1 assist), pushing her season goal total to 11. German was next in line with her two goals, while Barrer and Sever both tallied a goal and an assist. All three Wooster goalkeepers saw playing time, as Liz Plumley, Meredith Farley, and Madalyn Myers each recorded a save in the combined shutout. Earlham's 'keeper, Emma Treece, posted a remarkable 24 saves in the setback.

Next up is a non-conference tilt at home with Transylvania University (1-7) Friday evening at 7:30 p.m.
