WOOSTER, Ohio – Amanda Artman added another milestone to her All-American field hockey career at The College of Wooster on Thursday afternoon, becoming just the sixth player in NCAA Div. III history to record 100 career goals when she kicked off the game's scoring in what turned out to be a high-scoring affair with North Coast Athletic Conference foe Oberlin College, which the Fighting Scots ultimately won 9-4.

Artman entered the game needing just one goal to reach the magical number, and it did not take her long to get it. Wooster (13-5, 9-2 NCAC) earned an early penalty corner, and after the ball found its way over to Kate Valora on the right wing, she sent it in the middle to Artman, who slid a shot under a diving goalie and past a defender stationed on the end line for a score just 5:51 into Thursday's action.

Artman's the second Div. III player within a week to achieve the 100-goal mark, with Jocelyn Novak of Lebanon Valley College reaching the milestone Oct. 23. Others on the elite list include Lynchburg College's Allie Weir (131 from 2006-09), Danae Chambers of Messiah College (111 from 2001-04), Phebe Phelps, also of Lynchburg (106 from 1980-83), and Eastern Mennonite University's Sherri Allebach (104 from 1996-99).

The Scots did not let up by any means after the historic goal. Nikki Sever was part of three goals just 4:35 apart, first assisting on a pair of Clare Nelson-Johnson scores and then knocking in a ball that was in mid-air at the right post to make it 4-0 around the midway point of the opening half. Artman added an unassisted goal to give Wooster a 5-0 cushion at halftime, and she did not play the rest of the way.

Oberlin (6-10, 2-9 NCAC) tallied the initial score of the second half, but the Scots quickly responded with a three-goal run. In fact, Stephanie Standera scored just 24 seconds following the Yeowomen's goal, and 2:21 after that, Brittany Braun blasted one in from the top of the circle on a direct corner from Eileen Barrer. It marked the first career goal for Braun, a sophomore, and Barrer's second assist of the game. Making it 8-1 was Nelson-Johnson, as she completed the first hat trick of her field hockey career by knocking in a rebound with 20:32 to play.

The Yeowomen would tally three of the contest's final four goals, interrupted by a Maddie Hart-to-Laura German goal for Wooster.

Next, the Scots close out their regular season Saturday when Earlham College (2-14, 0-11 NCAC) visits at 5 p.m.
