WOOSTER, Ohio – In a challenging non-conference affair, The College of Wooster field hockey team was unable to keep pace with the University of Rochester, dropping a 5-1 decision to the Yellow Jackets Sunday on Andrew Turf Field at John P. Papp Stadium.

After Rochester (6-1) scored twice during the opening 12 minutes, Wooster (3-3) played its visitors pretty close to even for much of the remainder of the game. The Scots nearly pulled within one when Anna Divis' direct shot off a penalty corner was just wide around the 13-minute mark of the first half, and the score stood 2-0 at halftime.

The Yellow Jackets upped their advantage to three 10:43 into the second half, but 94 seconds later, another Divis shot during a corner found its mark, as Wooster quickly made it a two-goal margin again. Amanda Graeser picked up an assist on the Divis goal.

Rochester, which was keyed by Anna Dobrzynski's two goals and two assists, eventually put the game away late with a couple of scores.

Despite the four-goal margin, the Scots had more penalty corners (14-11) and were only outshot by six (16-10). Wooster goalies Liz Plumley and Madalyn Myers each played a half, with the latter posting five saves during the second.

The Scots return to North Coast Athletic Conference play Tuesday with a trip to Denison University (5-0, 2-0 NCAC).
