Denison University took a 3-0 lead in the game's opening 20 minutes, and that was all the Big Red needed to hand The College of Wooster field hockey team its first blemish in the North Coast Athletic Conference standings Tuesday afternoon at Granville, Ohio.

The Scots (3-4, 2-1 NCAC) let up a goal to Hilary Zdanowski just over two minutes into the action to go down 1-0, and they were never able to recover. The Big Red (6-0, 3-0 NCAC) outshot Wooster 8-3 in the first half, including another goal by Zdanowski at 13:26, and one later from Tonie Michaels that gave them a 3-0 cushion.

In the second half, Wooster's offense outshot Denison 9-4, and Nikki Sever and Anna Divis each recorded a shot on goal, but 'keeper Brittany Benson came away with a save each time. Divis led the Scots with five shot attempts on the day.

Wooster will look to improve to 3-1 in the NCAC with a win over visiting Earlham College Saturday at noon.
