WOOSTER, Ohio – Clare Nelson-Johnson scored two goals and assisted on two others, leading The College of Wooster field hockey team past Earlham College 4-0 Saturday afternoon in a North Coast Athletic Conference match-up at John P. Papp Stadium.

The Fighting Scots (4-4, 3-1 NCAC) stunned the Quakers (1-6, 0-5 NCAC) with an early goal, when Anna Divis had her shot saved, but Nelson-Johnson collected the rebound and dished to Isabelle Howes who scored just over one minute into the game to give Wooster a 1-0 lead.

Maddie Hart made it 2-0 at 25:05 when she scored on another Nelson-Johnson assist, and the score remained that way heading into the break.

Wooster dominated possession in the second half, and outshot Earlham 9-0, including two goals by Nelson-Johnson that pushed her team's cushion to 4-0. Nelson-Johnson's first goal was unassisted, while her second one came on a nice feed from Nikki Sever, who drove the right baseline and found her camped out in front of the cage.

Madalyn Myers played the entire game in goal for the Scots, but needed to make just one save on Earlham's two shot attempts. Her counterpart, Emma Treece, minimized her team's damage by recording 10 saves in the setback.

The Scots will be back in action tomorrow at 1 p.m. when they host DePauwDePauw University.
