WOOSTER, Ohio – DePauw University jumped out to an early three-goal lead, and then controlled possession throughout much of the remainder of the game, en rout to a 4-0 win over The College of Wooster field hockey team Sunday afternoon in a North Coast Athletic Conference tilt at John P. Papp Stadium.

The Tigers (6-1, 5-0 NCAC) took a 3-0 lead over the Scots (4-5, 3-2 NCAC) under 20 minutes into the game, when Maggie Campbell, Courtney Wood, and Margaret Ellis each rattled the cage in the early goings.

Ellis added another goal late in the second half to give DePauw its 4-0 margin.

The Scots were uncharacteristically outshot 19-2 on the day, but the defense did manage to provide some highlights. Both Lauren Grimanis and Josie Rey made impressive defensive saves, and goalkeeper Liz Plumley, who played the second half, recorded eight saves and allowed just one goal.

Wooster's best scoring opportunity came early in the second half, when Nikki Sever crossed a pass to Clare Nelson-Johnson, but the latter's shot was saved when 'keeper Maggie Steele stepped out and swatted it away.

Wooster will head to Oberlin College for another NCAC match-up Wednesday at 4:30 p.m.
