WOOSTER, Ohio – The College of Wooster matched a season of six goals, a career-high four coming off the stick of Clare Nelson-Johnson, as the Fighting Scots rolled past North Coast Athletic Conference foe Oberlin College 6-0 in what was likely their final appearance at John P. Papp Stadium for the 2011 season on Tuesday.

Wooster (8-9, 7-6 NCAC) would score three goals in each half, with the first of the day coming less than four minutes into the action when Nelson-Johnson punched in a pass from Nikki Sever. That combination would work again midway through the first half, this time with Nelson-Johnson providing a long outlet pass from midfield to a streaking Sever, who dribbled around the goalkeeper to complete the breakaway score.

Leading 2-0, it was the Scots' defense turn to come up big. First, standout back Josie Rey produced a defensive save to maintain the shutout, however, Oberlin (6-11, 3-10 NCAC) was awarded a penalty stroke moments after that. On the stroke, starting goalie Liz Plumley made a diving save to her right, and less than 30 seconds later, the Wooster offense moved past the Yeowomen's goalie who had come out to challenge, with Nelson-Johnson delivering her second goal on a Maddie Hart assist.

About 10 minutes into the second half, Nelson-Johnson notched the second hat trick of her career when she finished a cross from Sever that had been slowed down by the 'keeper, but the ball kept rolling in front of the cage. The Scots would tack on two more goals just seconds apart, as Sever scored unassisted on another breakaway and then Nelson-Johnson snuck another one in with an assist from Shelby Stone.

Nelson-Johnson's nine-point output was the best of her career, and Sever totaled six points, also a career high, coming on two goals and two assists, also a career high. Also of note, Wooster utilized three goalies – Plumley, Madalyn Myers, and Meredith Farley – for the shutout.

The Scots close the regular season Saturday at archrival Wittenberg University (9-7, 7-5 NCAC) at 1 p.m.
