WOOSTER, Ohio – The College of Wooster scored five of its six goals during a 24:06 span in the first half, and then coasted to a lopsided 6-0 victory over Earlham College on Saturday afternoon in a North Coast Athletic Conference field hockey match-up at John P. Papp Stadium.

The Scots (3-3, 2-1 NCAC) outshot the Quakers (0-4, 0-3 NCAC) by a 28-2 margin, with 18 attempts coming during their offensive onslaught in the first half. Isabelle Howes got the scoring run started around the nine-minute mark when the goalkeeper attempted to cover up a loose ball, but Howes pulled it out from underneath her and pushed it into the cage for her first goal of the season.

Just 1:38 later, Nikki Sever directed a penalty corner to Clare Nelson-Johnson, and the latter quickly stepped inside the circle and fired a deep shot that beat the 'keeper. Wooster then received goals from Kate Brondyk, Sever, and a second from Nelson-Johnson, to take a commanding 5-0 lead at the break.

The Scots took their foot off the pedal in the second half, but Abby Szlachta was able to notch her first career goal on an assist from Shelby Stone with 6:40 remaining in regulation to round out a balanced effort from the offensive unit.

Carrie Mount played all but 4:32 in goal, but didn't need to make a save while recording her third career win. On the other side, Helen Titcomb made 12 saves in the setback.

Wooster will look to extend its winning streak to four games when it hosts DePauw University (4-1, 2-0 NCAC) tomorrow at 1 p.m.
