Clare Nelson-Johnson scored less than two minutes before halftime to tie the game 1-1, but Ohio Wesleyan University went back ahead early in the second half and was able to hold off the Fighting Scots late to win 2-1 on Wednesday evening in a North Coast Athletic Conference match-up at Delaware, Ohio.

After Montana Knapp recorded the game's first goal at 14:48, the Scots (3-5, 2-3 NCAC) answered back just moments before the break, when Nelson-Johnson received a pass from Isabelle Howes and touched it in to make it 1-1. It marked Nelson-Johnson's team-leading ninth goal of the season.

The Battling Bishops (2-3, 1-2 NCAC) didn't stay down long, as Knapp again rattled the cage, this time off a penalty corner about eight minutes into the second half that held up as the game-winner. The Scots made it interesting, though, as they fired off two shots in the closing minutes, including one from Kate Brondyk that was saved.

Goalkeeper Carrie Mount made three saves for Wooster, two of which came during the final 10 seconds of the first half.

The Scots will look to get back to .500 in conference play when they visit Kenyon College on Sept. 27 at 4:30 p.m.
