Clare Nelson-Johnson scored her third career hat trick, pacing The College of Wooster to a 4-1 victory at Oberlin College during North Coast Athletic Conference field hockey action Saturday in Oberlin, Ohio.

Nikki Sever was also involved in three scores for Wooster (5-5, 4-3 NCAC), including the first as she tallied an unassisted goal from the right side less than 10 minutes into the action for a 1-0 lead.

Just 2:23 later, Nelson-Johnson got into the goal column, emerging from a scrum in front of the net with an unassisted score.

The Fighting Scots made it 3-0 with 6:01 remaining in the first half. Shortly after a penalty corner, Nelson-Johnson rattled the cage from the right side, with a double assist initially credited to Sever and Shelby Stone.

Oberlin (2-6, 1-6 NCAC) gained some momentum with a goal by cutting the margin to 3-1 right before halftime.

Wooster continued to dominate play during the second stanza, which included a 10-0 shot advantage, but did not pad its lead until just 1:21 remained when Nelson-Johnson delivered her third goal, this time from the left side off a pass from Sever. Ironically, Nelson-Johnson's other two career hat tricks also came against the Yeowomen.

On the defensive side, Scot goalie Carrie Mount recorded three saves and back Josie Rey registered a defensive save.

Next, Wooster continues its conference schedule at Denison University (7-3, 5-2 NCAC) on Tuesday at 4:30 p.m.
