WOOSTER, Ohio – A balanced offensive attack pushed The College of Wooster field hockey team past Wittenberg University, as four different Fighting Scots scored goals during a 4-2 victory over their North Coast Athletic Conference archrivals Saturday afternoon on Andrew Turf Field at John P. Papp Stadium.

On a four-game winning streak now, Wooster (7-5, 6-3 NCAC) continues to be in a third-place tie in the league standings.

The Scots spent most of the game in the defensive half of Wittenberg (2-10, 2-7 NCAC), forcing a season-high 18 penalty corners, and they scored during three of them, including the first when Dana Feit, positioned on the right wing, sent a well-placed crossing pass to Kate Brondyk, who fired the ball inside the left post 5:11 into the action.

The Tigers tied it up about five minutes later, rebounding in a ball that had hit the post off a direct corner shot, and it remained 1-1 deep into the half.

Wooster then gained significant momentum with two goals during the final 3:55 before the break. First, on another corner, Clare Nelson-Johnson took it directly from the top of the circle and blasted the ball through the defense for her 15th goal of the season. Then, with no time remaining in the half, the Scots played out another corner, this time Katie Furbee collecting a loose ball that Wittenberg was unable to clear and delivering a shot from the left wing to inside the right post for a 3-1 cushion.

The Tigers pulled within one 10:30 into the second half and it stayed that way until late. With less than a minute remaining, Brondyk stole the ball in the backfield, touched a quick pass to Nikki Sever, who beat the goalie to it and scored the insurance goal. Sever also had an assist earlier in the game.

Defensively, Wooster saw the return of goalkeeper Liz Plumley, as she played the second half for her first action since an injury during the season opener. Plumley made four saves, while Carrie Mount started and tallied two in the opening half

Next weekend, the Scots are in Indiana to face Earlham College (0-11, 0-9 NCAC) and DePauw University (11-1, 9-0 NCAC).
