The College of Wooster field hockey team had everything working for it Saturday, as the Fighting Scots limited Earlham College to just seven shot attempts while steadily pulling away on the scoreboard in a decisive 5-0 victory Saturday afternoon at Richmond, Ind.

There were quite a few firsts that took place for the Scots (4-3, 2-1 NCAC), including the first two assists of sophomore Rachel Wetzel's career. Wetzel recorded one of her helpers just 2:32 into the action, when she dished to Kayla O'Connor for a goal that put Wooster up early, 1-0.

Later in the first half, O'Connor scored again, this time on an assist from her twin sister Kerry O'Connor, which made it 2-0. To close out the half, Leah Prescott, who scored six times last year as a freshman, beat the 'keeper for the first time this year during a penalty corner assisted by Wetzel to put the Scots ahead 3-0 entering the break.

Yet another first came at the 55:02 mark in the second stanza, as sophomore Sarah McGrath rang up her initial collegiate goal on a pass from Prescott. Finally, in the 60th minute of play, Prescott chipped in her second goal of the game which gave Wooster its impressive 5-0 margin of victory.

When the smoke cleared, Prescott had two goals and an assist, Kayla O'Connor scored twice, McGrath scored once, and Kerry O'Connor and Wetzel each totaled two assists.

Defensively, goalkeeper Carrie Mount saw four shot attempts on goal and she saved each of them, with three coming in the second half.

The Scots will continue their two-game Indiana swing tomorrow when they visit DePauw University (6-1, 2-1 NCAC) at noon.
