WOOSTER, Ohio – Behind a career-game from sophomore Leah Prescott, The College of Wooster field hockey team powered past short-handed Oberlin College, 5-0, in the Fighting Scots' Homecoming game Saturday afternoon at John P. Papp Stadium.

The Scots (5-5, 3-3 NCAC) got off to a fast start against the Yeowomen (1-5, 1-4 NCAC), who came into the game with a roster bitten by the injury bug, as they scored three goals just 15:18 into the first half to take a commanding 3-0 lead.

The first of those goals came off the stick of Megan McGinley, her first of the season, while the second and third were both scored by Prescott, as part of her seven-point (3 goal, 1 assist) performance.

Wooster added one more tally late in the half, when Prescott dished to Claire Moffett to make it a 4-0 game heading into the break.

The Scots dominated possession on the offensive end again in the second stanza, matching its first-half output with another 20 shot attempts. This time the Yeowomen surrendered only one goal - to Prescott with just :16 remaining in regulation - thanks to an impressive effort from goalkeeper Maggie Gossiaux (20 saves).

Overall, Wooster outshot Oberlin 40-8 and lead in penalty corners 21-10. Along with Prescott, Kerry O'Connor had a standout performance with three assists. Also noteworthy, Anjela Galimberti was very active defensively, seemingly cutting off any offensive opportunities Oberlin was able to generate.

Next up, the Scots host another North Coast Athletic Conference foe, Kenyon College (7-2, 4-1 NCAC), on Thursday at 4:30 p.m.
