WOOSTER, Ohio – The College of Wooster held a 1-0 lead on first-place Kenyon College for 20 minutes, but the visitors eventually tied it and later secured a North Coast Athletic Conference field hockey victory, 4-1, on Andrew Turf Field at John P. Papp Stadium Thursday afternoon.

Wooster (5-6, 3-4 NCAC) had its share of possessions early and the pressure paid off when Shelby Stone kept the ball in Kenyon's (9-2, 6-1 NCAC) defensive half. The senior midfielder dribbled inside the circle, first went left, then back toward the right wing, where she fired off a shot past the splitting goalkeeper and inside the left post for a 1-0 lead. For Stone, who has contributed eight assists during three seasons, it marked her first career goal.

It appeared that the Fighting Scots, with help from a defensive save by sophomore Rachel Wetzel, would bring that one-goal advantage into halftime, however, the Ladies struck for the equalizer late in the half. They converted during a penalty corner opportunity, striking for a rebound goal.

A little over five minutes into the second, Kenyon gained the lead as Christine Bloom was able to get to a loose ball that had bounced past the 'keeper and directed it into the cage.

Shortly after, Wooster had a couple of good looks to tie it back up. The hosts earned a pair of penalty corners, with Anjela Galimberti ripping one shot from the top of the circle that was blocked.

Despite the Scots earning seven corners in the second half alone, the Ladies tacked on a couple of goals to pull away.

Goalie Carrie Mount made 12 saves for Wooster, the third time in the last four games she has posted double-digit saves. She played particularly well in the first half with nine saves.

The Scots have a rare weekend off from competition and will resume their schedule with a trip to Ohio Wesleyan University (4-6, 2-5 NCAC) next Thursday.
