WOOSTER, Ohio – Anjela Galimberti broke a 2-2 tie with 24:05 left, rebounding in a goal during a penalty corner, and The College of Wooster field hockey team went on to secure a 4-2 triumph over Bethany (W. Va.) College late Wednesday afternoon on Andrew Turf Field at John P. Papp Stadium.

Wooster (7-7) scored the non-conference game's first two goals within the opening 16 minutes – one by Taylor Thorp and one off the stick of Kayla O'Connor. Thorp's was of the rebound variety, as she finished on a series of point-blank shots at the Bethany 'keeper during a corner at the 13:55 mark. Less than two minutes later, O'Connor, stationed at the right post, touched in a well-placed pass from her twin sister, Kerry O'Connor, for the 2-0 cushion.

The Fighting Scots looked to be on their way to a decisive victory, however, Bethany (3-9), and in particular Latisha Cuffee, had other ideas. Cuffee made an impressive individual play, taking possession around midfield, racing down the right side, and shortly after entering the circle, firing off a shot that found its mark to pull the visitors within one.

It remained 2-1 through halftime, then in the early moments of the second, Cuffee controlled a loose ball right in front of the cage and drove it just past a stretched-out Carrie Mount to knot the score.

Galimberti, a junior defensive standout, has played an integral role with the penalty corner unit this fall and she did so again Wednesday, but in a different position. Normally at the top of the circle, Wooster showed a new look several times, with Galimberti pushing the ball out of the corner, then moving to the left post, and the move paid off as she knocked in a rebound from Kerry O'Connor's initial shot.

The decisive goal was Galimberti's third of the season, and Taylor added a second in the game and seventh of the year during the final minute to seal the outcome.

Also of note, Mount made a key save on Taylor Solomon's breakaway with about 10 minutes remaining that prevented the Bison from tying it again.

The Scots return to North Coast Athletic Conference play this weekend with a pair of home affairs against Earlham College (0-13, 0-9 NCAC) and DePauw University (11-2, 7-2 NCAC).
